Love your services online. We enjoy your sermons all the way from Chicago. On those cold Sunday mornings when we can’t make it to church on time with our kid, we choose to stay in bed with a cup of coffee and watch your services from the comfort of our home. Thank you for this, its a a total treat.

I see you have beliefs that don’t reflect the Orthodox Christian Faith.

Would you be kind to share with me where you get your belief system? Not wanting to be combative, just trying to understand why you believe what you believe. Thank you.

Thanks for the question Matt. The New Church is the name for several historically related Christian denominations that developed as a new religious movement, informed by the writings of Swedish scientist and theologian Emanuel Swedenborg (1688–1772). Swedenborg claimed to have received a new revelation from Jesus Christ, while reading the Word, through continuous heavenly visions which he experienced over a period of at least twenty-five years. In his writings it is explained a ‘New Church’, which would worship God in one person: Jesus Christ would be established. The New Church doctrine is that each person must actively cooperate in repentance, reformation, and regeneration of one’s life. The church is founded on the belief that God explained the spiritual meaning of the Scriptures to Swedenborg as a means of revealing the truth of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Swedenborg claimed divine inspiration for his writings.

The New Church is seen by members of New Church organizations as something which the Lord is establishing with all those who believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the one God of heaven and Earth, and that obeying his commandments is necessary for salvation. Therefore, it is thought that any Christian holding these beliefs is part of this New Church movement. New Church organizations also acknowledge the universal nature of the Lord’s church: all who do good from the truth of their religion will be accepted by the Lord into heaven, as God is goodness itself, and doing good conjoins one to God.

This worked great for us, David. Came in just fine. We have always gone to New Church Audio for sermons from you and other ministers but this is just so great because we feel like we are right there . The sermon was very good and I really liked Peter’s comment too. Another extension of this topic might be how to pray. Some pray for perfect healing such as a miracle, others for comfort and guidance to those who are in need and so on.
