A Battle Against A Dragon

The Bible has some very intriguing stories and imagery. We may wonder what the meaning or relevance of them is for us today.

We have been told that these stories have a deeper meaning about our inner or spiritual life. This story pictured from Revelation 12 about the woman clothed with the sun who’s newborn child is threatened by a seven headed dragon is about something very relevant. The dragon pictures a false premise that threatens to destroy all our attempts to live a life of love and kindness according to the teachings of God. It is the false belief that faith alone, separate from a life of charity, love and kindness, is saving and can lead to a heavenly way of life.

This false premise allows us to believe in God and the truth and think we are living a faithful life, when in reality it prevents us from actually turning from selfishness and shunning negative attitudes and behaviors in our life. The result is, we don’t change; we don’t grow; we don’t reject hellish beliefs and attitudes.

We will be discussing this further on Sunday, June 14th at 10:30 a.m. in our live stream service on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BoulderNewChurch/
