Do Not Covet: Why Not?

fish-men

We are considering the final commandments in our series on the Ten Commandments. These final two commandments demand that we do not covet.  These commandments force us to look at our thoughts, motives and desires and not just our actions. These are very important things to think about because it is the negative thoughts we dwell on and the hurtful desires, like lust, anger, contempt, and so on, that can drive us to act out and break the other commandments. There is no outward behavior to observe in relation to the commandments about coveting, but there is plenty of stuff to examine within. As Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you.”
