The Spiritual Blessings Of A Feast

If religion is supposed to be all about suffering then why does God demand that His people keep so many feasts and celebrations? Hmmmm. Maybe we are supposed to enjoy ourselves. Maybe the life of religion isn’t really about depriving ourselves of enjoyment. Maybe the Lord said, “I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly,” and, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” Oh yeah, He did say those things. Perhaps He meant something by it.
Sunday 10:30 a.m. – the service will include the Lord’s Supper (communion)
Following the service is a potluck Thanksgiving lunch and pie baking contest. Please bring a dish to share and your best pie (if you want to enter the contest).

Seven Practices Of Peace, Part 7: Resting

This Sunday, November 17th
Seven Practices of Peace, Part 7: Resting

On the seventh day of creation God rested from all the work that He had done. God then blessed the day and made it a holy or sacred day.
The work is done. God no longer has to fight for us to keep us from our destructive habits and tendencies. We are now operating in a spiritually healthy way from within and from true strength.
This story illustrates a beautiful promise which the Lord has offered. If we will turn to God in our lives, live by the truth of His Word, and ask for His strength, we will find true spirituality and true peace–our lives will be blessed.

Seven Practices of Peace, Part 6: Loving

Seven Practices of Peace, Part 6: Our re-creation as pictured in the Divine parable of the Creation Story.
On the sixth day God created all the creatures that dwell on the earth–the cattle, the beasts of the field, and every creeping thing. God also created His crowning work–human beings. This is the promise that good affections and loves will be created within us by the Lord. The selfish, angry, resentful, and fearful feelings will be replaced by feelings of hope, joy, delight, happiness, and kindness. These feelings are represented by the warm blooded animals that God created. And the human beings and their union symbolize the unity within us of our will and our understanding. What we love will be what we think about, and what we think about will be what we love. We are given true integrity of heart and mind.

Seven Practices of Peace, Part 5: Coming Alive On The Inside

This Sunday the 5th Day of Creation is discussed. In this day the Lord creates the birds of the air and the fish of the sea. The sky and seas teaming with life show how when recognize the Lord exists (day 1), know the difference between His truths and our own ideas (day 2), let those higher truths shape our minds and behavior then (day 3) the Lord sets his love, faith and true understanding in our inner selves (day 4) then our mind springs to life. Everything we think and say and do springs from the Lord and so becomes good and true. This is what is pictured by the birds and fish.
Join us Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and don’t forget to enjoy that extra hour of sleep by setting your clocks back before bed for Daylight Saving Time.
